Method: engaging your unconscious

Jungian Coaching is inspired by the philosophy and teachings of Carl G. Jung, Swiss Psychiatrist and Founder of Analytical Psychology. It is fostered through a partnership created between coach and client. This partnership serves to open the client to their unconscious hopes for individuation, or becoming more themselves. It is not itself psychoanalysis or therapy. It is a conversation taking place over 7-10 sessions about whatever challenge or struggle the client wishes to explore.
Dreams, active imagination, guided meditation, symbols and fairy tales are all avenues to enrich understanding and decision-making. The goal of Jungian Coaching is less about coming to a definitive answer to one’s challenge by the end of the coaching period. It provides a better understanding of one’s Self with regard to that or any given challenge, and to have gained tools to use moving forward in one’s life as inevitable questions and challenges arise.
Meet Mary Hamilton
Thanks so much for visiting my website. I hope that after reading its contents, you will be interested in exploring with me how Jungian Coaching may help guide you as you make your way through this interesting life.
I have engaged in a number of roles in my life from bartender to naturalist, non-profit fundraiser to hospice nurse, from mentor of challenged teens to my present role as Jungian Coach.
Despite how it might appear at first blush, all of these roles have a common theme, that of my being one who listens deeply, be that to the natural world, a teen in crisis, or a dying mother. The other theme is one of providing support when people are facing challenges.
One of the rites of passage as we age is to let go of our roles and engage with our souls. It is that process that has led me to Jungian Coaching. I feel a strong pull to work with people who want to know who they are, or want to become, beyond the role(s) they have occupied. They hope to become aware of how they make decisions, and how they may choose to direct their life going forward. It is exciting work, work that plumbs the depths, brings laughter and tears, and can help one more fully understand one's dreams for the future and how they may be reached.

I was a client of Mary's when I was going through an important life transition. I found my whole experience with Mary to be both helpful in my own personal journey and enjoyable. I looked forward to our time together. If you are looking for a caring, knowledgeable, compassionate person to help you explore what is happening in your life, I highly recommend her.

Mary is compassionate, curious, and has a sense of humor which put me at ease. She was genuinely interested in my experiences, ideas, and perspectives even if they differed from her own, and she seemed to enjoy being challenged and learning new things.
I appreciated Mary’s close attention to my word choice and themes, making me feel that she was listening closely and reading between the lines to truly understand what I was saying. She offered her own images and observations giving me something to think about without entering into interpretation.

Mary's Jungian Coaching was a very valuable experience for me. Through a combination of guided dream interpretation, various exercises, and Mary's knowledge of Jungian concepts, I uncovered truths about myself I wouldn't have otherwise. Mary is an excellent listener, supporter and teacher. Highly recommended.
